What is Invisalign®
Since the late 1990s, Invisalign has been gaining popularity as an alternative to traditional metal braces. This clear alignment system is a series of aligners (changed about every 8 weeks) that are custom fit to your unique dental needs. Most patients see gradual results within a few weeks, with many reaching success in 12 months.
Here is what you can expect when you choose Invisalign:
Comfort
Unlike metal braces, Invisalign aligners have no metal brackets or wires that can come loose and poke you or cause discomfort.
Control
While we recommend patients wear their aligners for at least 22 hours per day, Invisalign does give patients the flexibility to remove the aligners when eating, for special moments/pictures, and when needed for speaking.
Confidence
Whether you are a student or a working professional, you can straighten your smile without drawing attention or feeling embarrassed. These clear aligners are perfect for those wishing for a dream smile without hurting their confidence.
How It Works
1.
Your First Appointment
During your first appointment, Dr. Walton will explain the process in greater detail. Digital x-rays, imaging, and impressions will be taken of your teeth and a computerized model will show how your teeth will align over time with Invisalign®. This information is then sent to a certified Invisalign lab where your aligners will be made.
2.
Tracking Your Progress
Many patients can see results in just a few weeks, but the best way to ensure a successful outcome is to wear your aligners for a minimum of 22 hours per day – only removing them to eat and then replacing them. Every 8 weeks or so, you will have follow-up appointments with Dr. Walton to track your progress and to get your new aligners. While every case is different, most patients will have their dream smile within 12 months.
3.
Enjoy Your Smile
We make your smile experience fun and easy, and you will finish with a stable bite and your ideal result, held with provided retainers.
